Hi, Folks!
This is the late Father Andrew J. Graves and The Church of The Little Flower.
With the sole exception of Frances L. Goodrich, Father Graves is probably the most influential religious figure Madison County has ever known.
A staunch advocate of the poor, Father Graves began his ministry in Madison County during The Great Depression.
Although the presence of Presbyterians and Methodists are well documented in the “Bible Belt”, the Catholic influence is a lot more understated and less known.
Jesuits in Madison County were often subject to cross burnings and mistrust.
Nevertheless, Father Graves marched on providing for the poor and ministering.
By the time he died in the late 1970’s, his legacy was secure and he was one of Madison County’s most beloved residents.
The Church of The Little Flower still stands in the Revere Community. It is utilized for both religious, social and artistic events; A tribute to Father Graves steadfast belief in both what God and Appalachian Culture have to offer.
